Babytol D3+K1 is an additional source of vitamins D3 and K1, intended for feeding premature infants and newborns on a natural diet. It is also recommended as a dietary supplement for newborns on a mixed diet that includes a small amount of adapted formula. Adapted formula for newborns is enriched with vitamin K1. If the infant is on a mixed diet and receives up to two servings of adapted formula per day, an additional intake of vitamin K1 at a dose of 25 mcg is recommended until the end of the third month after birth, through Babytol D3+K1. For this supplementary intake, only one capsule per day is needed.
Description
A newborn is born with very low levels of vitamin K1.
Vitamin K1 passes through the placenta in very small amounts, so newborns have almost none at birth. It is naturally synthesized in the gut by beneficial bacteria. The development of these bacteria in the infant’s gastrointestinal tract takes time.

Breast milk contains vitamin K1 only in small amounts, and its level is very modest. To ensure prevention and protect the newborn, in most European countries, infants are given 1 mg of vitamin K1 immediately after birth in the maternity ward. In accordance with the recommendations of pediatric and neonatology associations, as well as Ministries of Health in most countries, extended oral administration is also recommended.
